Branch Manager provides strategic leadership in building a high performing, engaged team who delivers service excellence, profitable sales growth, continuous improvement, market share increases and strong customer and community relationships.

People Leadership - Owns their Talent

•Lead and manage a high performing team, including recruiting, hiring, on boarding, training, motivating, recognizing, and managing performance
•Provide constructive feedback and coaching to team members
•Communicate openly and frequently e.g. Conducts daily Service Promise Meeting to ensure branch team is informed on current performance, branch wins, challenges and objectives

Market/Business Leadership - Owns their Market
•Understand/know the market and customer opportunities and competition
•Create, communicate and execute a strategic business plan for their branch
•Contribute to and build strong community relationships

Sales and Service Leadership
•Work closely with the District Sales Manager to drive profitable branch sales growth and increase market share
•Develop and lead a customer driven sales and service culture in the branch.
•Work with the sales force, both outside and inside teams to build and grow strong, positive customer relationships and increase sales, including regular customer calls
•Develop and maintain a well-rounded knowledge of products sold
•Deliver consistent customer service by executing on our standard operating procedures (SOP)
•Liaise with internal support groups, such as National Accounts, Marketing, Sales Operations, Supply Chain, Financial Services, Human Resources and Product Management

Operations Leadership
•Lead and manage the day to day branch business through the key metrics on the branch key indicator dashboard
•Manage inventory control, facility maintenance, security and distribution of goods
•Optimize local branch inventory to improve product availability and deliver targeted first pass fill rate
•Analyze daily reports, such as price violations, GM exception report, MasterCard log, customer churn report, and overnight DC transfers and ensure requisite improvement plans are developed and executed
•Drive a culture of continuous improvement – “lean” branch processes to improve operational performance and increase productivity
•Implement a 5S process to clean and optimize the branch by utilizing company best practices
•Improve branch productivity utilizing the branch productivity measures and implementing staffing and process improvement initiatives
•Ensure safety policies, procedures are followed, such as, WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, WSIB, and all related governing legislation
•Ensure compliance of workforce with provincial regulations, codes and approved AGI operating practices

Financial Leadership
•Manage all customer pricing to optimize profitability utilizing some or all of the pricing mechanisms as appropriate
•Responsible for P&L, profitable sales growth, inventory control and expense control
•Lead and approve all customer pricing, manage customer contracts in CCDM
•Resolve any credit issues and financial tickets from invoicing discrepancies

•Proven people leadership, teambuilding and coaching skills to support growth and development
•Demonstrated relationship-building and communication skills developed through prior experience in a sales and customer service role
•General business acumen including an understanding of financial operating statements and key drivers. Understand and use financial reports to effectively manage the business
•A well rounded knowledge of industrial business
•Innovative thinker. Can streamline work processes, reduce costs and improve operational excellence
•Success in implementing change
•An entrepreneurial attitude with a strong drive to win who constantly looks for ways to help Acklands-Grainger beat the competition
•Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to multi task

•High sense of urgency and consistently delivers
•Professional demeanour and ability to work with all levels externally, as well as internally
•Knowledge of the local market and previous sales experience would be an asset
•Proficient computer skills and aptitude
•Completion of post secondary diploma or degree, preferably in Business or equivalent business experience
•Possession of a valid driver’s licence

Small/Medium Branch Manager:
•Minimum of 2 years of previous management experience
•Industry and product knowledge required

Large/Extra Large Branch Manager:
•Minimum of 5 years progressive experience managing a branch or other large and complex business and team
•Exceptional leadership skills with proven experience to coach and develop a winning team
•Industry and product knowledge is an asset

•Actively in a Branch Manager role for a minimum of 2 years with consistent performance that meets or exceeds expectations
•Consistent favourable engagement scores of >75% or more.
•Track record of achieving results including successful change implementation.
•Demonstrates and excels in all AGI Performance Drivers (Wow The Customer, Have A Winning Attitude, Drive For The Best Results, Make The Team Better, Lead The Way)
•Proven leadership skills i.e. A change agent and high impact leader who plans, communicates and executes to positively impact the business and team
•Strong business skills, including sales focus, operational performance, and business and financial management
•Demonstrated team building skills and relationships (customer, internal teams, community)
